Newport YMCA AFC v Caerleon

Newport YMCA AFC is currently in the process of setting a new 5 year plan to improve the club and its’ facilities with the goal of achieving Welsh Premier League status.

We have come a very long way in recent years, but looking around you it is obvious that we still have a long way to go.  But we must set ourselves objectives to achieve this goal and continue the impetus gained from obtaining First Division status and the progress made in this years Welsh Cup.

The upgrading of the ground, including the installation of floodlighting, will only come at a very substantial cost and the attainment of the necessary funds will be critical in any development.

At this point I am delighted to announce the setting-up a Youth Academy system under the FAW Regulations, it will be under the directorship of Simon Pratt. We have many qualified coaches attached to the club and intend using their abilities and drive to the fullest extent.  This is based on a partnership understanding with Swansea City to pass on any of our outstanding talent for their further development toward making a career of football.

The Academy will be an integral part of the Swansea Development Centre process, focussing on players aged 5 –16. It is pleasing that we have this opportunity to work with one of Wales’ leading professional clubs but especially on a personal level, having been born in Swansea I will always be a life long supporter.
